This artwork was made in the year 2013, as a part of an ongoing multidisciplinary series entitled "Extraña Correspondencia" - Strange Correspondence. In this series I explore the relationship between human beings and chaos, and the metaphors that such relation may symbolize. In the paintings I insert female subjects in chaotic, urban-like and slightly surrealistic scenarios. I explore the limits of the painting surface when cutting out, re-copying and reorganizing the space and the objects, often alternating between abstraction and figurativism, eliminating third grounds, saving fragments of preliminary layers or leaving a generous blank area on the canvas. These paintings talk in a playful, ironic way, about the uncertainty of human existence and the contrast between our well presented outer lives, and our more complex and often messy and confusing inner lives.

Rossina Bossio is a multi-disciplinary artist born in Bogotá, Colombia. She studied Visual Arts at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in her hometown and Fine Arts at L’École des Beaux-Arts in Rennes, France. Her work, which ranges from painting and drawing to video, has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei (MoCA), The Imperial City Art Museum (BAMOIC), in Beijing; the Grand Palais in Paris; the Tribeca Cinemas in New York; and the Saint Claire’s Church Museum in Bogotá, among others. "The work of Rossina Bossio is primarily the art of painting, its practice and execution, its playful and sensual aspects and all the reasonings that it involves. This is the reason why the women, objects and spaces she represents do not evoke a predetermined, literal or univocal sense. On the contrary, considerations such as chromatic subtlety, the delimitation of space, and the relationship of forms are key points for their appreciation." — Eduardo Serrano, Curator and Art historian.
