Christa Hartmann, born in 1945, acquired her love for art as a result of her apprenticeship in her parents' gold workshop and jeweller's.First of all Christa Hartmann was inspired by the material itself, the metal, with its unique possibilities of working with it. Discovering abstract painting for herself the artist then immersed more and more in the creative freedom it offered. This was followed by workshops at the European Academy of Art in Trier. In the 1990ies jewellery design became a field of creative work in addition to painting. She took part in Dokumenta X with her collection of compositions entitled " TEMPUS FUGIT". Since 1998 she has been committed to artistic projects for the Old Botanical Gardens at the Georg August University of Gttingen. Her work is also in great demand for projects commissioned by architects and advertising agencies. Christa Hartmann sums up her creative creed thus, "I find it stimulating to link opposites. In this vision of a formal union of contrasting elements I develop the habit of thinking in images", she explains, "and exploring their effect - motifs and elements which then materialize on the canvas, whether in the form of a collage or a novel fantasy of colour." Christa Hartmann's use of colour needs no realistic space and no binding signs. In her use of abstracts she creates for herself and for the observer freedom in which associations can be made unhindered. She admits to these moments of frivolous being which also always mean letting go of well-known forms and ways of seeing, where straight lines and curves, angular expanses and uninhibited sweeps of the brush merge to form an inspired backdrop. | E-Mail:
