My first artistic approach followed the usual schemes of impressionism: landscape paintings using colours and brushes directly on the canvas with no need of drawing with pencils as a first stage of work. It's no surprise I had as artistic references the great masters of French Impressionism and Vincent Van Gogh, surely my favourite painter ever. My style evolved with elements from French Art Nouveau and Spanish Modernism. I was deeply impressed and inspired by the harmony of the architecture and the design from these artistic movements: the irregular and sinous shapes of Antoni Gaudi's buildings, the decorations of Alfons Mucha's posters, the Liberty's glass windows, the elegant design of Art Déco... Matching all these influences, I developed my own style that I can describe as "synthetic expressionism": the art work doesn't need empty decorations anymore, but it runs straight to the deepest essence of the depicted subjects using the black line, a tool that provides a break and a connection among the shapes and the colours at the same time. My final visual effect reminds something like a mosaic: reality is decomposed and simplified in the paintings to get a dynamic approach to the shapes through a continuous line. The observer is led through this line on the whole surface of the painting following its emotional paths.
