Serenading the Hedgehog Painting

This acrylic painting entitled " Serenading the Hedgehog " was inspired by my interest in these strange mysterious little creatures which have invoked awe in some. The ancient Egyptians designated the hedgehog as a symbol of rebirth as hedgehogs were known to retreat into their underground dens when food was scarce and only reappeared when food was available again. I admire their survival instincts - besides having efficient protective armour in their spines -they hibernate during the winter and emerge after many months to mate and nourish their new families during the milder seasons.
