"Serene Repose" is a captivating figure study painted on a generously scaled, stretched canvas. The artist's bold, expressive brushstrokes and delicate color palette – featuring muted pink and a radiant, violet-tinged yellow skin tone – evoke a sense of quiet intimacy and vulnerability. A nude woman sits serenely in a chair, her form reduced to its simplest, most sensual contours. The artist's deliberate abstraction of the figure invites the viewer to contemplate the essence of femininity, unencumbered by representational detail. The expansive canvas, carefully stretched to showcase the artist's vision, provides an immersive backdrop for this contemplative scene. As the eye wanders over the curves and planes of the woman's body, the boundaries between flesh and space begin to blur, imbuing the piece with a dreamlike quality. In this captivating work, the artist achieves a profound balance between simplicity and sensuality, creating a mood that is at once contemplative, serene, and deeply alluring. The raw, textured edges of the stretched canvas serve as a poignant reminder of the artwork's materiality, grounding the ethereal beauty of the figure in the physical realm.

Rebecca Wing Size Lam (°1985, Hong Kong, Hong Kong) is a modern minimalist artist By applying abstraction in her Wingsze tries to develop forms that do not follow logical criteria, but are based only on subjective associations and formal parallels, which incite the viewer to make new personal associations. Her drawings are usually simplified versions of her thought process pre painting. Initially they were what Rebecca describes as “Mindless Doodles”, but as her collection builds, she turns them into a large body of work on their own. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. With a subtle minimalistic approach, she creates work in which a fascination with the clarity of content and an uncompromising attitude towards conceptual and minimal art can be found. The work is aloof and systematic and a cool and neutral imagery is used. Her practice provides a useful set of allegorical tools for manoeuvring with a pseudo-minimalist approach in the world of drawing: these meticulously planned works resound and resonate with images culled from the fantastical realm of imagination. By choosing mainly formal solutions, she creates intense personal moments masterfully created by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal, luring the viewer round and round in circles. Her works are based on formal associations which open a unique poetic vein. Multilayered images arise in which the fragility and instability of our seemingly certain reality is questioned. Rebecca Lam currently lives and works in Australia
