Shut Up Painting

Rita Ventura is a Portuguese plastic artist who creates a vivid and expressive universe filled with characters and animals who confront each other to depict - and often to denounce - modern life. Inspired by Lisbon, its artistic tradition and the magnificent light, Rita’s work is irreverent, ironic, and funny – yet her pertinent depictions of moral and social problems, notably in the female world, are provocative. Rita studied at IADE- Criative University, Design course and painting course under the guidance of master Lima de Freitas. She also worked as a creative person for RTP and LPM communication. Rita participated in the 1st SIAC - International Contemporary Artists Salon, at the Oeiras Foundry and at the Monsaraz Biennial. She has held several solo exhibitions and is present in several private collections in Portugal and abroad. Rita’s themes and style have many people associate her to the Outsider Art movement - but her incorporation of expressionism and satirical illustration make her an original and contemporary artist.
