The sixties period has always inspired. That's why I decided to paint a portrait of Jean Shrimpton, a famous model of the sixties. I love her style, the makeup, the hair. as it was a black and white photography, I chose the colors that are vey important to represent the sixties period.

I am a French painter and I was born in Paris. I live and work there in my studio. I trancribe subjects onto canvas or paper, not as they are, but as I see them : filled with optimism. This translates into vibrant colors that evoke joyful emotions, but also into femininity at its most sensual, whose aesthetics roots lie in the cinema of the 1950s and 1960s, whose sets and costumes still fascinate me. My creative process often begins with images gleaned from Elle magazine, which I have been reading since I was a teenager, from movies or from the internet. I reframe them, reinterpret them, and transform them, often switching from black and white to color. Then, through a subtle interplay of light and shadow worked into glazes, I "sculpt" the color, giving shapes and volumes to the subjects. So I elevate the world around me into my day life. Something ordinary, what I see from a window, what's on my plate, but in which I can detect an elegance that triggers in me a nostalgic emotion for a time that I never knew. The desire to reinterpret it by giving it life and joy. This mundane thing then becomes a subject in its own right, a unique center of interest. My painting is a shoot of vitamin D, provided by the sun, an invitation to slow down and smile. Feel good, reassured by an ode to femininity , beauty, and joy in a very gray world, but one that I will tirelessly insist on seeing as a movie... in Technicolor ! This approach extends to works that can be produced on commission.
