My paintings are about the edges where earth mets water, sky and sea; swamp and creek. Natural elements experienced anew- one comment which I felt was apt was that they were landscapes of dimensional drifting. I call them landscapes but they morp during process into interior “ feeling scapes. “ The canvases are really about emotions. The natural world is a template for expressing color. The hard edges of rocks and trees, all of the earth elements and the liquidity of water catch my eye. The evolution of water, in all its states, especially reflections, and the chaos at this edge continues to fascinate me. Indomitable growth  Seeking nutrients  Things will grow  And whatever feeling state is evoked  Purged  Outed  Explored however you want to frame it! Is revealed during process The title of the piece comes to me while it is manifested The photos I take and work from are really just a template for form- Color is my own to speak about emotions. It is this tightrope between real and imagined ; The tension between real and abstract, that I love. If one looks, the fact of tangled woods along a river bank are clear- But   liberties are taken. The material is transpersonaly "real". These are not pretty postcards or traditional landscape. These are the trance experiences of what in the natural environment called to be explored, were fully entered into, a call and response, layed out in a very private space. My hope is that others arrive to this sense of presence and beauty while looking at one of my paintings. That the piece provides a kind of beautiful sanctuary to visit again and again.
