Kaoru Shibuta is a painter interested in sonics. He paints spontaneously based on the way sounds feel as colours and shapes. Our five senses are not in isolation from each other - they co-exist, and together are integrated into one feedback loop. Among the influences we receive daily from the environment surrounding us through our senses and perceptions, there is also another kind of energy that enters unconsciously and seems to disappear without form. Shibuta transforms musical notes and expresses them as paintings and installations. He gains his inspiration from Japanese regional customs, and nature's own shapes, colours and materials, and arranges and circulates them in space, creating an environment where new interactions are born. The world connected by sound and music links us all. “If Mozart created music to connect the earthly and heavenly worlds, I take on the role of spreading them through my paintings."
