At the end of a holiday with very old friends, on our last evening following a chance "amusing" remark I made, we all had a huge argument. Many obviously long held resentments came out, criticisms of how my husband and I led our lives, brought up our children, accusations were made which we felt were very unfair and unjustified. Despite the fact that the friendship between the families involved covered over 30 years we didn't communicate for many months after this. I was incredibly angry at many of the remarks made and both my husband and I felt that much of this resentment came from jealousy over decisions we had made about our lives that had worked for us. I had to paint it out, I had to get the anger out of my system. We are all friends again, we got over it, which at the end of the day is a sign of good friends. I don't think any of us however have forgotten the incident but you don't throw away friendships that old. I hope the viewer resonates with the image, most of us experience things like this at least once in our lives and sometimes it is good to be reminded of these things. Most of my work is in oil, it is the medium I feel happiest with as I can almost mould it to my needs. Particularly with this piece the vibrancy of the colour and fluidity of the medium was ideal to express the feelings I fel.

Based near Stratford-upon-Avon, Enigmatic Surrealist painter, Caroline Walsh-Waring has developed her own unique style through constant practice and allowing herself to be inspired by every day things. Her obsession for drawing as a child she carried through school, Art School, and work; finally undertaking further training whilst working in London and participating in courses in Europe. Encouraged to draw by a creative father who died when she was young, she was deterred by a practical mother and a need to support herself financially, resulting in initially turning her back on an artistic career. Continually drawn towards creativity later training confirmed what she needed to fulfil her life. Inspired by the landscape and the human condition. Her work resonates with echoes of past experiences, stimulating her distinctive thought processes to create utterly unique work. Oil on Canvas is her main medium; she also produces images with watercolour, pen and pencil as the mood takes her, resulting in a spontaneous variety of pieces. Caroline aims to emulate the smoothness and beauty of the great masters, painstakingly applying her paint in glazes to achieve a dreamlike translucent finish to her work worthy of any wall or gallery. She has completed many commissions, sells work on a regular basis and this year was included in the VAA International Online Exhibition Curators Choice Awards. She exhibits in several galleries and sells internationally and at art fairs. She is a finalist in the VAA Professional Artists Awards 2022.
