About The Artwork

The Earth is a living organism, an evolutionary phenomena, a web of fantastic complexity too subtle and too vast for human understanding. I make paintings about that dynamic process, about time, about human evolution entwined with our environment. About "Gaia Mind." The subject is the natural world. The content is a sustainable environment "We are here to awaken from the illusion of our separateness." —Thich Nhat Hanh This painting is made with oil and charcoal on canvas (sized and primed) on panel. The work is signed on the left edge (see photo). The artwork comes with a signed notice of authentication. This painting is packed in a custom, wooden shipping crate (per Saachi requirement). The cost of the crate (+/–$850) is included in the price of the artwork.

William Leidenthal grew up in Palo Alto, California. He has been painting since the age of five. William has traveled extensively in Europe and the South Pacific. He now lives in Marin County (San Francisco Bay Area), California. "I make paintings about the Earth, about why our planet is the way it is—paintings about physics and chemistry, astronomy, geology, biology, etc. I make paintings about what was here before humans and what will be here after. I try to create provocative work about things that exist but cannot be seen, what is here with us in this cosmos that we don’t know and cannot understand. I do not make pictures for decoration. I make experiments in paint. "Almost anything you do will seem insignificant, but it is very important that you do it." —Gandhi
