Someone suggested I do a beach. I/we live in a usually cold, wet, grey locale. Do I describe some of the people too? Four people have seen this completed, all have liked it. One said, this is very familiar to a photograph, a computer wallpaper, I have seen. True, I said. The photo' was my "model", adapted, interpreted. A challenge to decipher its colours, lights, movements, etc.. When I do portraits, of people I know or know not, it is from photo', usually. Sometimes I sketch details, especially eyes and lips, before paint. Let me add. I could not and at present can not afford to go to Fiji, Vanuatu or Bora Bora. To sketch or photograph a beach before paint. Shades of Paul Gauguin? Never was admitted into stockbroking. Presumptives who want to visit my "studio" embarrass me too. "Studio"?, my humble kitchen, or twice, in bright weather, I used an amused non-Artist's conservatory. Her amused and not understanding my limitations. I had to take everything I needed around there. It's taken years to build up a quality palette and canvas collection I use and appreciate using. Though they have all refused my association (I suggest my low-class and other identities has something to do with it), I have seen the studios of Artists near here. For example: look-at-me virtual tours on internet. I can only envy their facilities. Such would make my Art-life easier, time saving, and perhaps more fulfilling. This is my present capability given my innate application, financial means, and constraints of environment. Note on Title: “A knave; a rascal; an eater of broken meats...and art nothing but the composition of a knave, beggar, coward, pandar, and the son and heir of a mongrel bitch: Duke of Kent to Oswald, a servant. King Lear. W. Shakespeare. 1605. So too have I been treated by the vulgar. Phrase is sometimes used these days to express approval or admiration: ‘Talented son of a bitch, isn’t he? I never knew.’. Hope you hold me in new meaning. Monogram.
