"Spirited Dancer" Painting

My practice explores the construction of personal identity through autobiography, performance, and material experimentation. Drawing from lived experience, I examine themes of selfhood, sexuality, intimacy, and the lasting influence of family dynamics, using art as a space where personal histories can be questioned, reimagined, and transformed.

My early work centred on self-portraiture, using the body as both subject and site of inquiry. This developed alongside my training in Meisner acting in New York, where an emphasis on emotional truth profoundly influenced my approach to image-making. The experience enabled me to confront deeply rooted emotional patterns, shaping a practice grounded in vulnerability, presence, and psychological exploration.

During my foundation course, I expanded this investigation through experimentation with new techniques and processes while developing an interest in voyeurism and sexuality. These themes became a way of examining the relationship between looking, desire, agency, and the performance of identity.

At Goldsmiths, my practice evolved to incorporate textiles alongside a renewed engagement with performance. Through these mediums, I continued to explore sexuality, memory, and inherited family trauma, considering how the body carries emotional histories and how making can become an act of repair.

My practice remains interdisciplinary and continually evolving, responding to lived experience while seeking to create spaces where vulnerability, transformation, and embodied memory intersect.
