My work originates from images of lotus flowers, humans, and indigenous culture, symbols deeply associated with Vietnamese culture and memory. I work with lacquer and contemporary painting techniques, using layers, textures, and time to build a visual language quietly. Through this process, what is hidden gradually emerges, like memory awakening. I am not attracted to the strict logic of form, but to the simultaneity of emotions — where space and time dissolve into each other, and where the past and present breathe together on a single surface. In my paintings, form, line, and contrast are not only visual elements; they become the language of inner emotions. I observe life not through its direct appearance, but through the quiet resonance within.
The lotus appears in my work not at its most perfect moment, but in its quieter states — after blooming, aging, or dissolving into abstraction. These moments contain a deeper sense of time, stillness, and truth.
I gradually move towards simplicity, reducing form to preserve its spirit — the part that is felt, rather than just seen.
For me, painting is a return to silence amid the noise of life — a silent space where emotions can be seen, shared, and deeply felt.
