ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I grew up in the flat Midwest, and being a visual person, I went to University of Colorado so I could look at mountains. Now I live in Santa Barbara, which is between ocean and mountains, and I visit the Sierra often. So I've seen plenty of rushing creeks, which I love, and with our current drought, I dream of having plentiful water again! Spring Surge is displayed in a black wood floater frame with a narrow gold front edge.

After losing our home to a wildfire in 2008, and then buying a home with a beautiful garden, I realized that my interests in geology and the natural world are really about the inevitability of change. Geology is the study of how the earth uplifts and erodes, and plants evolve every day. These processes are the inspiration for my paintings. The fire taught me about change, and to appreciate beauty in life when you have it.
