"Spring's Abundance" is a sister painting to, and further reflections of those things contemplated within "Spring Rhythms". It is a meditation on Motherhood and its echos of seasons, particularly spring. Spring has a lot to teach us about moving into and through a "season" of life. For instance, whi...

I wasn't always an abstract painter. My practice began in representational work, particularly drawn to color and light. Then Covid arrived with its profound sense of isolation. Shut inside, I now had plenty of time to create, but no longer had the desire to paint the physical world around me: I found myself turning inward instead. I began making repetitive, interwoven waves; forms which seemed to rise from somewhere beneath conscious thought. The act of painting them centered, calmed, and connected me to something deeper I couldn't yet name. That experience became the focal point which my practice has been dedicated to ever since. From that initial spark, my current body of work was born. My paintings explore the idea that the invisible governs everything. The waves of energy which move through the physical world, such as frequencies of light and sound, have their mirror in the emotional currents running just beneath our conscious thoughts. My work suggests we may all be tuned to the same frequency. Working in acrylics, I build each painting through repeated, translucent glazes. Thin layers of paint are applied one over another until waveforms slowly emerge from the surface. The process is partly intentional, partly meditative: I begin only with a foundational color and artwork scale in mind. Then, I enter a flow state, letting the forms arrive intuitively from the subconscious. The result is an image that exists somewhere between science and feeling. I hope viewers leave with a sense of stillness, and the quiet recognition of something they already knew but hadn't yet seen.
