About The Artwork
This bead-painting was inspired by my trip to Venice, Italy. I envisioned what a bead embroidered St. Mark's Basilica & Campanile would look like as they slowly sink into the acqua alta waters.. The concept of this work will always remind me of the fragile state of Venice - a magical city that remains in my heart always. ♥ This piece consists of an extreme bead embroidery. Tiny glass seed beads, Murano glass beads, custom hammered gold crosses were stitched to felt using needle and strong nylon thread. The finished beadwork was then stitched to a 24" x 36" acrylic painted canvas depicting a beaded acqua alta. This piece took 4.5 months to create from start to finish.
