(Stasis 1) is part of a series of paintings that Fernando calls "frozen abstracted morphological mutations". Mutations that result from the experimentation between architecture, colors, structures and anatomy. I Factor in what is permanent and impermanent in human society. We live in a constant state of flux, continuously changing and this painting is a result of this.

Fernando was born in 1980 in Los Angeles to immigrant parents. He spent most of his youth in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he was exposed to architecture, art and music. Later on, he moved back to Los Angeles to pursue his interest in art and design. In Glendale Community College, he started to explore painting, sculpture and architecture. In 2007, he decided to join the Southern California Institute of Architecture. That is where Fernando started to experiment with abstraction in art and architecture. His work incorporates his attraction to anatomy, geology, topography and technology. He considers his work to be frozen mutations that reflect the constant state of flux we live in.
