Come here sister Papa's in the swing
He ain't too hip about that new breed thing
He ain't no drag
Papa's got a brand new bag
Come here mama and dig this crazy scene
He's not too fancy but his line is pretty clean
He ain't no drag
Papa's got a brand new bag
He's doing the Jerk
He's doing the Fly
Don't play him cheap cause you know he ain't shy
He's doing the Monkey, the Mashed Potatoes, Jump back Jack, See you later Alligator
Come here sister
Papa's in the swing
He ain't too hip now
But I can dig the new breed thing;
He ain't no drag
He's got a brand new bag
Oh papa! He's doing the Jerk
Papa he's doing the Jerk
He's doing the twist just like this
He's doing the Fly ev'ry day and ev'ry night
And the thing like the Boomerang
Hey! Hey says he's uptight he's out of sight
Come on. See whatcha know. Come on
(James Brown “Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag”)

ORIGINAL MIXED MEDIA - a two panel diptych

Doesn’t everyone love a Stella McCartney bag? Maybe even Princess Grace would have loved one?

Controlled chaos, humour and surprise are all merged in my mixed media works.

Often appearing playful at first, my works endeavour to visually express my understanding about existence in the 21st century and references to the past. My work aims to examine society’s lusts and desire with fortune and fame and, consequentially, to highlight our insecurities.

Using mixed media allows me to combine recognizable figures from all walks of life, iconographic or cartoon characters with other seemingly mundane objects or paper. Through this, I attempt to expose the dark reality behind the glossy facade. The images and media used often act as a representation of a consumer-driven dream world behind which lies layers of a more brutal reality.

This work is inspired by the works of Joseph Cornell, Max Ernst and Nick Bantock. I look toward artists prepared to do the unexpected, to push the envelope or include images or concepts, sometimes totally unrelated, to arrive at a final work. As a result, there is always a sense of spontaneity and urgency when constructing my mixed media works. Following my first instincts gives me the best results. My goal always is to construct interesting and challenging images which draws the viewer inward.

Practical information - this is mixed media, acrylic paint and collage is fully sealed with acrylic varnish and is ready to hang either close together or separate.

I am an Australian artist, living and working in my studio in London. My work includes painting, collage, mixed media, prints and installations I enjoy working with the different elements and piecing them together to create some kind of logic and order. There is a fundamental pleasure in connecting images together to create something that did not previously exist. There is a landfill of ideas out there and a universe of nonsense that needs sorting. I am drawn to artists who push the envelope, unafraid of producing works and images that may be confronting, but always thought-provoking. My main influences are Peter Blake, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Paul Klee, Joseph Cornell, Nick Bantock, Ray Johnson, James Jean, Raymond Pettibon PLEASE NOTE FROM TIME TO TIME SOME WORKS ARE MARKED "NOT FOR SALE" DUE TO INCLUSION IN AN EXHIBITION OR AN ART FAIR. IT WOULD ONLY BE FOR A SHORT TIME AND THE WORKS WILL BE BACK FOR "SALE" AS SOON AS THE SAID EVENT HAS ENDED. IF SOLD AT AN EVENT OF COURSE THEY WILL BE MARKED "SOLD".
