'Storm Boy'

The beautiful majestic Australian pelican is an iconic bird that has its own movie (and re-make) made about him called 'Storm Boy' and featured a pelican called Mr Percival.

The title is taken from the movie and also the song of the same name by Xavier Rudd with the lyrics:

" When will you learn that the more you take
Means the less that you have at the end of the day
Stillness of the mind is so hard to embrace
Freedom of the heart is what we crave

And we sit by the river with a cup of tea
Watch the movement of the tide in the gentle breeze
Pelican drifting slowly looking for a feed
Like Mr Percival the Storm Boy, you to me

Kookaburra calls just like he knows
And I call right back, "Yes I'm home"
He's been with me
He's watched me grow
Through those rainy days and those rocky roads

And now everybody smiles in the setting sun
And sighs with contentment when the day is done
Hand in hand with the one you love
Feeling blessed by the magic of the moon above

And we sing
Sha la la la la...
We're just living in this beautiful world
Sha la la la la...
We're just living in this beautiful world..."

Storm Boy is here to remind you that we live in a beautiful world.

This piece is full of beautiful textures in the feathers and the land area which gives it a sense of depth.

This work is painted on a gallery wrapped canvas and has been sealed with varnish, comes ready to hang and with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Kerry Sandhu Art: 'Inspired Art from the Heart' I'm Kerry Sandhu, a self-taught acrylic artist with a passion for bringing vibrant, heartfelt art to life. Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, I made a big move to Darwin in the Northern Territory in January 2020, which has added a new layer of inspiration to my work. I find my inspiration in the world around me—nature, spirit, life, music, and lyrics all play a big role in shaping my creative process. Just like my diverse taste in music, my artistic style, techniques, and themes are eclectic and ever-evolving. My 'inspired art from the heart' covers a wide range of themes, each piece encapsulating my raw uniqueness and spiritual energy. I love to create vibrant paintings that highlight the beauty found in the small details of life, each brushstroke a reflection of my inner world. Painting and creating are my true passions, and I strive to share this love with others. Through my art, I aim to touch hearts, inspire minds, ignite passions, and evoke deep emotions. Every ANZAC Day (since 2016), I paint an original artwork to honour the fallen service men, women and animals and their ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. LEST WE FORGET. My mantra is as follows: “Art is like people, no two are the same. Each person has their own destiny, and art will always find its destiny too.”
