About The Artwork
This series of paintings is inspired by the poignant lyrics and musical rhythms of a variety of genres from across decades. While the resulting, large, vibrant abstracts are created by layers of large geometric shapes and gestural brush strokes - all representing the emotion and meaning of the songs they aim to capture. When I reflected on the lyrics of this famous Frank Sinatra song and the era in which the notion of a "one night stand" was being romanticized, it made me think of the different ways a woman and a man would take a flirtation and cross the bridge to a physical connection. This 48' x 48" x 2" canvas is painted with bold strokes of a split complimentary palette using contrasting brush strokes and a combination of hard and soft lines and shapes. Man/woman interlacing.
