The creative process was characterised by impulsive grasping of the colouring agent, whereupon the work was covered with a black acrylic layer, which was scraped off after a certain time. I was born on 29 December 1975 in Munich, where I live and work. In 2014, after attending the studio school of art AKTHOF in Munich, where I studied classical painting and drawing, I found a free, abstract, expressive style of painting. The sculptor and painter Alberto Giacometti once said that the first condition of seeing well is to forget. For him, painting was the instrument of seeing. In a sense, I take up this idea and keep my distance from predefined concepts. I ‘let’ abstract pictorial landscapes arise through ‘letting go’, so to speak. Actions, decisions and colour selection take place intuitively and spontaneously; the encounter with the painting surface is strongly process-oriented and characterised by impulsive grasping of the colour medium. The works emerge in a natural, creative flow, and are often developed in parallel over a period of weeks.
