Art Description

Painting: Digital, Acrylic, Oil, Spray Paint, Ink on Canvas.

Acrylic, acrylic based medium, archival varnish UV protection, oil, and pigmented Ultrachrome inkjet prints (collage) on canvas. The piece comes ready to hang.

The basis of the artwork is an over-painted museum shop merchandising of Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers. It is a multilayered composition in which figure and ground seem to continually shift between the analog painting and its digital counterpart. The work involves a direct clash between what appears on the surface and an implicit meaning when the visual dimension is accompanied by a knowledge of the subject (a National Gallery’s museum shop merchandising). The borders between advertising and fine arts blur and image becomes a commercial brand name.
