Swings and Roundabouts Painting

Originally from England I am an Australian artist based on the south coast of New South Wales. My adopted homelands colours and feelings are deeply etched into who I am and this is reflected in my work. Living on the coast between the escarpment and the ocean I draw inspiration from the bright colours of the ocean and beach life to the one side and the rich multi-hued colours of the bush to the other. I state unapologetically that I am a total colourist and often employ the use of saturated colour and draw inspiration from my surroundings. I create tension through my wish to paint very intuitively while loving structure and sharp crisp lines. I work in acrylics and mixed media. I am drawn to the works of Howard Hodgkins, David Hockney, Gerhardt Richter and Brian Ruttenberg - colourists all.
