TAP DANCING - Benny Goodman "Sing, Sing, Sing" C Painting

My aim in this work is to express the rhythm of swing jazz, On the main fresco painting I've employed monotone colors which almost approach black and white. The goal in painting these images was to make them look as if they were sketchy drawings from old times. To me the animation movement of the "Tap Dancing Girl" conveys a humorous, funny, and comical tone. It's like the situation of our city life: we're always going up and coming down but never remaining in the same condition or place. That's my impression of life herein the Big Apple that is NYC. An upbeat swing jazz rhythm is the perfect much with this image. I've used four different media in the paintings: Fresco, egg tempera, oil and sumi-e. For the sculptures I've utilized two different materials: lime stone and light rope. All these different elements brought together seems to create a "free feeling" in the installation. That's my image of jazz music. Benny Goodman's band was the most popular band of the 1920s and 1930s. Gene Krupa became an upfront drummer when the band performed their energetic piece "Sing,Sing,Sing". Benny Goodman's band made this an immortal tune in swing dance music.
