Painting: Oil, Acrylic, bronze leaf on Bronze, Canvas, Wood.
I had the honor of traveling through Taiwan. I was entranced by the koi ponds at the National Gallery Museum in Taipei. I took close to 100 photos to reference for my painting. "Taipei" is an abstract acrylic painting partially hidden by bronze leaf squares. The koi fish swim through the magical abstract space. The fish are life size. They have palette knife detailing. The thick oil paint of the koi contrasts nicely with the smoothness of the bronze. The painting comes to life, sparkling in the light and changing with varying light throughout the day. "Taipei" is easily hung with a single nail. There is a wire across the back. All sides are metal leafed with gold. No framing is needed.
