Taj Mahal Hotel Mumbai India Painting

The grand monuments in Asia, Europe and elsewhere are my inspiration for diving into this subject for my art. Renaissance and Baroque architecture have always fascinated me after my holiday in Italy. This series attempts to capture the magnificence of the monuments. It is not restricted to European Renaissance or Baroque architecture, but also extends to other monuments across the world. In fact, one of the first in this series is the gorgeous Taj Hotel in my home city of Mumbai. Painting with watercolours requires a fair bit of planning in advance and its successful application for such art works depends on a controlled, light touch. I use artistic discretion for the colours to bring out the mood and depth of the paintings and depend more on the details to give the structure its identity.
