Tantallon Castle Painting

I painted this during lockdown when we were all confined to quarters and dreaming of escaping from the claustrophobia. My dreams were explorations of my own country, Scotland, and how beautiful it is, so I started painting places I have yet to visit and some, like this one, that I haven't visited in ages. Landscapes are a new subject for me and with them I think I have really found my own style after almost six years of experimentation. The combined use of palette knives and brushes allows me to capture the harshness and the tranquillity of the Scottish landscape where our mountains are the oldest in the world and where castles still litter the countryside.
