My name is Paul Anderson, I am an artist and have been since I was 13 years old. After leaving school at 18 years of age I attended Kingston University to study Art and Design. I left Uni with a BA. I specialized in sculpture and print making. Also, whilst at Art College I painted with oil on canvas many large pictures, most of which are in private collections or lost many years ago. I was a frequent user of the ceramic dept, and many works produced in this discipline are in private collections or lost. I left college at 23 years old and travelled to a few European countries and the USA. Whilst in New York I was offered an exhibition at a small gallery, which unfortunately, closed before I could get my artwork over to the States. Over the years I have had to support my art by working. I was an Occupational Therapist Technician with the NHS for 26 years and was fortunate to be able to continue my art practice alongside teaching persons with mental health issues how to use art materials such as clay, oil and acrylics on canvas, plaster. I exhibited ceramic work and drawings at the Stanley Picker Gallery in Kingston upon Thames during the 1980s and 90s. In 1990, Due to an accident whereby a very fine and delicate ceramic sculpture, of mine, was broken whilst in storage at the Royal Academy, I missed out on my first chance to be in the RA Summer Show. I did, however, receive the full asking price for the work as an insurance pay-out. From 2007 I have held a post as a school caretaker and have taken advantage of the 'junk' that accumulates in the school to build sculptures. Pieces of work produced under the title of 20th Century Rockets have been collected privately. Two examples of this work are available to view on my website. In July 2021, I resumed medium large painting. I am working on a series of acrylic on canvas works. One piece of work recently sold at the Royal Academy Summer Show 2022.
