This painting is one of a series of works, titled "Terra Infirma", dedicated to environmentally-challenged regions of the world. Each piece combines abstracted nature with a hard-edged vertical this case I used a glowing metallic copper to suggest the copper mining region of the Sonoran desert—both environmentally and humanistically challenged—as it includes the border between the US and Mexico.
