This painting has the following pertinent facts:
It was painted totally outdoors.
It was pianted almost entierly on my knees.
Its metal. Yes the surface is a steel 22ga galvanized sheet 4 x 10 feet.
1/2" of snow covered it for 1 day during the cold january 2018
The metal is protected from rust from factory with a primer and paint cover both faces, so you have nothing to worry about rust in the future.
It is already sructure framed. The wood that appears to be the frame, also is the structure where the paintng is attached ( with 1.5" drilled screws to it.) You can change the frame if you i want to, or you can enhance it with a wood moldure. i recommend hang it as is.

The story behind the painting
The 5 Giants evokes a paralell universe allocated inside my brains.
Brings to mind issues like humanity, space, system, money and so on. I used to stare at it for hours. I imagined them (giants) having a conversation. the miniature figures in the ground in contrast to the large scale buildings and the giant scale humanoide figures, makes the viewer relate to the perspective and feel the colosal dimensions of the paint.

Other pertinent recommendations:

1 Devour the full image with your eyes while listening to Maurice Ravel´s Bolero.

2 Slowly, dont rush it.

3 Observe the details, figures, the architecture, the bus in the hand of that one giant, that i call Joe.

4 The increcendo of Ravel's bolero makes the imagination take many different paths of conclusions.

I dont know if it was a coincidence or not, but for some reason i was listening constantly to it and it was kind of therapeutic. It sparks the motif without being ovbious. As if all of your other thoughts disapear and you naturally focus in the painting while the music connects in your brain and your eyes "eat" the image with sweet lines and sour colors that disrupt and reflect a mood.

the viewer will expierencie something similar as reading a story, while observing this piece of art. Thoughts and things will occur in their minds. once that happens we have connected.

The inspiration of this work resides in the power and wealth created by the need for living space, the giants are representing the tycoons that opened the stream of wealth based in the real estate business model in a particular society. The news paper -magazine shows legit images from a 1908 high Burgoise Mexican Republic magazine.
Showing politicians from that era. The words "Mexico en la Altura" are read in the right-upper part of the paper. It means "Mexico in the heights".

Art on the back page shows a girl posing fashion.
This piece contains original 1908 art that was finally used in this 2018 monumental painting.

It took this piece to exist 110 years. The artist that put it together dan guz man was born 64 years after that art in that specific magazine was published.

I inherit those old magazines from my great grand mother.

Enjoy this painting. I did it with humbleness and pain on my knees, but with a lot of love, faith and courage. It was worth every single minute and bruises i got out of it.
In a sentence, imperfection is the element that makes it ironically to work perfect.
I chose the piece of metal to paint on it because i saw it standing there at the studio, and honestly originally it was intended to be something else.I need it a big canvas for this giants idea.
i had it in my mind for weeks.

The metal had the form of a small coil.i unleashed the wire that kept it in coil form, and the metal snapped into the open, making a big thunder noise.

Since is metal the sheet is wavy. that is the reason i had to paint it on my knees. once it was almost finished i framed it on 2.5" wood and did the details standing up..

Architect, designer, musician, and painter, Dan is a Multidisciplinary artist who grew up surrounded by art. Since his childhood, the great master's family books made him fall in love with artistic creation. Inspired by rebel artists toward aesthetic dogma, Mexican and international painters marked his criteria. Since then, he is compromised to create art from his guts without any mental barrier or hesitation. Compelling paintings, Intriguing paintings, screaming paintings. Dan submerges the spectator into the most profound areas of his psyche. His canvasses tell stories that surround human nature. The urban landscape is not limited to acting as a sterile backstage but performs and plays a part as another character. His Concept as well as his graphic language it’s clearly influenced by his architectural knowledge. Dan’s work reminds surreal expressionism. One can find cityscapes as a "leitmotiv" in his work, Dan deforms de ideal accuracy, precision, and perfection that architecture tries to achieve, by comparing reality with the chaotic order that nature really delivers. He "fixes" his buildings straight and artificial lines by tracing free hand and obtaining a sketchy and imprecise trace that tries to copy nature in its purest form. The cities that he paints evolve into a poetic rhyme over utopic architecture. Composed of artificial and natural energy, his graphic dialogue presents non-static scenes. The collective spirit in his paintings speaks about a constant fight against, conformism and the full understanding of oneself as a mind, spirit, and body. His work is filled with elements that are related to the final concept, building micro-narrative stories on each painting.
