The Beatles Painting

The work features the Liverpool 4 collaged with the Rolling Stones logo over their moustaches. Both images have become iconic for pop culture. The Beatles image is from the inner gatefold of the famous Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover (1967). Designed by the pop artists Peter Blake and Jann Haworth from an ink drawing by McCartney the cover is an artwork on its own. It is art-directed by Robert Fraser and photographed by Michael Cooper. The front cover presents a colourful collage of the Beatles in costumes in front of a group of life-sized cardboard cut-outs of famous people. Among all the peculiarities in the cover, there is a rag doll with “Welcome the Rolling Stones” print on its sweater.
