His grandfather and great-grandfather, the late Lawrence Hicks and James Hicks, were celebrated cabinetmakers and designers, carrying forward a family tradition of craftsmanship that spans an impressive twelve generations of Royal coachbuilders. In his formative years, Aidan was surrounded by a community of remarkable Irish artists, including the renowned maritime painter Ken King, the gifted Francis Fitzgerald, and his cousin Clare Henderson, an accomplished printmaker.
