About The Artwork

"The Bride" is a full-length portrait which shows a woman in a white dress, which could be a wedding dress, of a bride about to become a spouse. The face is partly in shadow, the hair blending into the black background. The lowered gaze and face evoke a certain modesty, a modesty barely contradicted by the gesture of coquetry in which the hand holds the dress to see if it "fits well". This painting is an original, one-of-a-kind piece made in mixed technique on canvas and combining photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (glaze and raised squares). It is framed in a black wood (total dimensions: approximately 95 x 35 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
