About The Artwork

Cheesecake was a favorite treat of my Dad’s. He would grab some after a decent meal when dining out. “Your cheesecake has arrived.” Not one for formalities of dining out, Dad did enjoy the great meal and a closing dessert to top the evening off. When made well cheesecake embodies the sweet and savory concept, which I think is why dad loved this desert. Strangely, he didn’t really have a sweet tooth, and thus would not go for super sweet delectables. (Although he did enjoy an enormous bowl of ice cream from time to time). An an enigma! Luckily mom loves cheesecake too and they shared a slice on their 50th wedding anniversary our last time out visiting Arizona. I used to make cheesecake as a kid using my grandmother’s (on my mom’s side) recipe. A creamy, soft, and simple dessert to fill your mouth with kid-like delight. Years later, I came to find out this beloved “heirloom” recipe, was none other than the one on the inside of Philadelphia Cream Cheese box. Surprised, but not disappointed, I continued to make it every once in a while through college and on, after my grandmother passed. It’s been a while since I’ve made one. Think I'll make one tonight in honor of dad and mawmaw.
