The Couple Painting

For 'The Romantic Escape' I organised several shoots with models wearing costumes that I had made myself. I took photographs and shot 8mm movie that I used for paintings and drawings. Behind my studio there are woods where I take my dog for a walk. And during one of these walks I 'saw' this couple between the trees, just standing there and holding hands. The woman stands vulnerable in her underwear but wearing a forceful mask with horns. The man dressed in a dark costume wears in contrast a fragile white birdshead. Who is the strong one here? There is a play of dependancy and independancy, masculinity and feminity, black and white, what is seen and unseen, lies and truth.
