I'm fascinated with integrating new technologies with my paintings to shift the way viewers understand and engage with a traditional work of art.
In 2011 I discovered QR codes, which led me to researching, experimenting and creating QR codes in a painterly yet still scannable format. A little over a year later I was introduced to augmented reality and, as far as I'm aware, I was the first professional painter in Scotland and one of the first in the world to incorporate AR with an oil painting.
Since 2017 I've been consumed with cryptocurrency and now the cryptoart space. Below are two short clips demonstrating my AR paintings from my 2018 exhibition 'Crypto Disruption'.
