About The Artwork

Witnessing the eclipse in North America for the second time was a profoundly introspective experience. As the sky darkened and the eerie stillness set in, I couldn't help but be flooded with memories of my first encounter with this celestial event as a teenager. Back then, the eclipse was a spectacle, a thrilling interruption to the ordinary flow of days. It was an event that sparked wonder and a sense of the universe's vastness. Now, as an adult, the eclipse brought with it a different kind of reflection. The transition from adolescence to adulthood had transformed my perspective. The darkness that swept over the landscape was a stark reminder of the passage of time and all the changes that had occurred in my life. The sensory experience of the eclipse—the sudden chill in the air, the peculiar shadows, the brief silence of nature—mirrored the internal changes I had undergone. I thought about the dreams and ambitions of my younger self, some realised, others altered or abandoned. I remembered the challenges and triumphs, the people who have come and gone, and the lessons learned along the way. I was filled with a deep sense of connection to the past and the present. The eerie, otherworldly quality of the eclipse heightened my awareness of the fleeting nature of time. It was a moment of clarity, where the everyday hustle and bustle faded away, leaving space for introspection and gratitude. The eclipse was not just a visual spectacle but a reminder of the constant ebb and flow of life. It highlighted the importance of taking moments to reflect, to appreciate the journey, and to acknowledge both the light and the darkness that shape our existence. As the light returned and the world resumed its usual rhythm, I carried with me a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper appreciation for the path I've walked so far.

Brought up in West Cornwall and studied Fine Art BA Hons at Bath Spa University. From there I went on to be an Art Teacher and left in 2021 to fully focus on being an artist. Colour and texture is the focus of my work. Self expression and a little bit of the landscape. The abstract comes from love of light, the outdoors, the sea, her Cornish upbringing and Jenni’s dyslexic tendencies. Being so visual I carry this with me and find a need to put it somewhere in a creative way. I sees in pictures and find that gathering information from my surrounding is easy to implement into my painting. I like to take my work right back to her routes and her childhood experiences. My memories in colour, trips away, family time and conversation. Often starting several pieces at a time, mainly works in acrylics applying oil bar drawings on top of space and colour knitting together sections. There is an Underlying element of fun to my work and I want it to continue to give. I want it to be accessible to all ages.
