About The Artwork
The emperors of Ancient China had fantastic wealth - some of it in jade-stones and gold. I had a fantasy about these jade-stones in their various colors piled up together with pieces and gold and other precious items in front of a lilac lattice screen with a rich glossy black lacquer and gold wall behind. Maybe this painting will remind you of a visit to "The Forbidden City" in Beijing. I have used some glossy paint for the effect. The "gold" is acrylic paint.

I was born in Denmark, and have been drawing and painting since early youth. I have lived in Germany and France, where I had my own fashion brand. I moved to Italy in 2000 and decided to give up fashion design and devote myself full-time to painting -- a decision I have never regretted. My chief source of inspiration are the many diverse cultures I have come across during my numerous trips. I always loved beautiful textiles, but I also draw inspiration from the shapes and color combinations of the traditional arts of China, Korea and Japan, and African and Oceanic tribal art. And I should not forget to add that I just love flowers and gardens - always an inexhaustible source of inspiration. I hope that the my paintings convey to the viewer something of the visual stimulation and excitement that I feel when I have created a new work.
