ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I wanted to create a forest scene with a difference and have come across tales of unicorns in the past, so I thought of painting an enchanted forest in a modern style with a mysterious unicorn as its focus. I wanted viewers to enjoy the colours and unusual effects including the deliberate trompe l'oeil effect of the trees around the unicorn. Acrylic paint is my favourite medium and I combined it with oil and other liquefying substances to obtain some of the unusual effects.

If I see a striking image in nature or in print, I try to capture it in my own way, emphasising what I find attractive about it. Sometimes it comes simply from ideas or emotions.
