Over the years my work has often changed. At some point what you are working on comes to an end and then you have to continue with finding a new perspective. That can be very annoying because you were in a certain rhythm and that stops resolutely. However, it also leads to experimentation which in turn can lead to new insights. Shifting between ideas and techniques I try to keep the process fresh and challenging for myself. Starting with figurative art during my early days at the academy, I embarked on a transformative journey that includes periods of abstraction and a return to figurative painting. These shifts usually occur intentionally and gradually, revitalising the artistic challenge. Personal life experiences, such as the loss of a loved one or a transition from a vibrant urban environment to a peaceful countryside, have played an important role in shaping these transformative shifts. I still feel the need to connect the two worlds, abstract with figurative. I don't think there is a difference in the feeling/emotions you can get and that's why I think it's important that the viewer sees that you can be very figurative in abstract work and vice versa. But it is also important that the viewer can recognise the pleasure that paint and painting can bring. The way paint is applied, the structure that the brush shows and the flow of the paint, the combination of colours and for me it is not just about the finished product.
