The five elements in nature, fire, water wood, metal, and earth, are translated into a meaning to describe one's fortune or characteristics. In Korean traditional culture, the elements are also represented in different colors woven into striped cloth. Children ware the colors on their sleeve to protect them from evil sprit. I'm fascinated with such a cultural development and our continued trials to understand the nature within the universe.
