Painting from the beech at Saunton Sands, North Devon, as others left the beach for the day, I was caught by the sense of peace, the calmness of the colours and the patience of the surfer, shading his eyes as the glimmer reflected back from the waves, creating silhouette shapes that danced in the shallows.
