ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The most enjoyment from my art after I look into the painting is to find out what my vision was trying to tell me. As a artist at least I have the tools to materialize my vision through mastering various art disciplines thru time from the Renaissance to the contemporary art's choosing my supplies carefully. I hope the viewer finds a world of fantasy in the graffiti and street art influences with bright cartoon-like fluorescent colors playfully fused with the beauty of artful figures. The disco ball earrings were the the proverbial "Cherry On The Cake" and the final touch. Allowing myself to be stylist,as well as prop/wardrobe in a pop culture context. I often use urban proverbs or language in my work. A proverb is a simple, concrete, traditional saying that expresses a perceived truth based on common sense or experience. Proverbs are often metaphorical and use formulaic language. Collectively, they form a genre of folklore. Perhaps a modern day twist of Girl with a Pearl Earring. Vermeer’s most famous painting. It is not a portrait, but a ‘tronie’ – a painting of an imaginary figure. Tronies depict a certain type or character; in this case a girl in exotic dress, wearing an oriental turban and an improbably large pearl in her ear. Johannes Vermeer was the master of light. This is shown here in the softness of the girl’s face and the glimmers of light on her moist lips. And of course, the shining pearl.
