About The Artwork
This piece is part of the series entitled OFF THE COAST OF ME. It is my tribute to the magnificent yet fragile sea. As an avid sailor in the Caribbean and world tours as a recording artist, I am forever drawn to water. Oceans evoke feelings of power, fear, freedom and sometimes peace , when she is calm. Big sweeps of acrylic paint introduces movement and blending creates subterranean light. I then build out with gels, glass, sand ,gold leaf and in this case, tiny found shells from my ventures. I paint not only the front surface of the canvas but all of the sides. It is hang-ready with a refreshing contemporary feel. This body of work is a metaphorical journey OFF THE COAST OF ME.
