This work is part of the 'Purely Textural . Map Points' series, inspired by memories of travel around the globe, impressions of places, moments, and experiences. This highly textured work is 'The Other Constellations'. We think of ourselves in a fixed location, content with our sky, and surroundings. How often do we stop to consider what the sky looks like from another person's point of view? What the constellations may say. The striking green glass is nestled in the proprietary texture for which this series is known. Tumbled, the glass is no longer sharp, and adds extreme dimension to this work. No longer a painting, this art has transitioned to wall sculpture. Wonderful alone, or in groups, the Purely Textural Map Point series is created on canvas, the hardware is attached. My family moved to the US from a tiny island in the English Channel. As a child, I would play in the tidal pools, explore the forests, and very carefully, very, very carefully, walk along the cliffs. Guernsey is still my heart, although now the hearty state of Minnesota is my home. My love for water, the sea, the stones and rocks, the trees and wildlife, are combined with my passion for travel and history,and somehow, all this tumbles out onto the canvas. My current series are Purely Textural, Witnessing Waves, Shifting, Road Trip, and my zero waste project, the tiny Fireflies. I hope you enjoy my art, and are able to explore a bit of the magic the canvas holds.
