About The Artwork

Ethnic jewelry can be very elaborate and fascinating. This necklace has some elements from Middle Eastern jewelry tradition and some from Indian jewelry where the enamel is much used and loved. The flowers in the enamel could be precious or semi-precious stones - or they could be made entirely from enamel. It is up to the wiewers fantasy. I have used glossy paint to give the paintting the "enamel" effect. The background is lightly spray painted with silver. All paint is acrylic. The artwork has a small symbol on the front and my signature on the back. The sides are painted so no frame is needed. It is ready to hang.

I was born in Denmark, and have been drawing and painting since early youth. I have lived in Germany and France, where I had my own fashion brand. I moved to Italy in 2000 and decided to give up fashion design and devote myself full-time to painting -- a decision I have never regretted. My chief source of inspiration are the many diverse cultures I have come across during my numerous trips. I always loved beautiful textiles, but I also draw inspiration from the shapes and color combinations of the traditional arts of China, Korea and Japan, and African and Oceanic tribal art. And I should not forget to add that I just love flowers and gardens - always an inexhaustible source of inspiration. I hope that the my paintings convey to the viewer something of the visual stimulation and excitement that I feel when I have created a new work.
