The Reach, Series 25 #12 Painting

Series 25 #12 The Reach 72 x 96 x 1.5 inches, diptych (two canvases) 2019 Acrylic, Ink This large scale work on canvas was created with a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. The stretcher bars are 1.5" thick, there are two notched cross braces, and the canvas is heavy duty #10 double weave duck cotton. This work ships in a wooden crate, includes hanging hardware, and is ready to hang. For a $1,100 discount, ask to have these canvases removed from the stretcher bars and shipped in a tube. Local pick-up or delivery, in Portland, Oregon, is also an option. ------- My process is modeled after the methods of improvisational theater: I make a mark, then ask myself, “if this is true, what else is true?”, and proceed accordingly. I build the image with a mixture of intuitive responses and researched considerations, drawing inspiration from both my personal life and the world around me. Each image represents an isolated narrative, yet all the images together tell a larger story. My accountability for the truth and permanence of this story is an important part of my identity as an artist. This is why I make all my works in sequential series, and never destroy or hide any of them.
