Rebecca Molayem is an expressionist artist with a uniquely whimsical, captivating style of contemporary art. Using vibrant colors often layered on top of each other with many brush strokes, she creates a sense of movement and dance throughout her original figurative paintings. Experimenting with multiple mediums including acrylic, oil, tar, and encaustic, her exceptional use of color in poignant work depicts sweet moments in life which resonates with many individuals. Inspired by family, friends, and places she visits, Rebecca’s fine art tableaus depict coastal scenes with bathing beauties, couples dancing in the night, mysterious maidens, and picnics bathed in riotous colors, all captured in her inviting conversational manner. Rebecca Molayem graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1984 and was an active graphic artist and illustrator for 15 years. While working as an illustrator and raising a family, she started sculpting in clay, exploring the medium and its endless possibilities. In 1999, she decided to share her creative and expressive style with the world by translating her images from clay onto canvas. Thus began many successful years as a figurative painter, selling art online, in various Southern California galleries, and eventually opening her own eponymous gallery in 2007 on the chic Robertson Boulevard in upscale West Hollywood. In the summer of 2016, Rebecca opened a larger gallery and studio location, on Fairfax Avenue near LACMA. “I express feelings of happiness and joy through my paintings, and believe my work is a source of strong compassion, opening doors to exhilarating journeys through color and composition.” Rebecca has recently opened her largest gallery space to date, located at 481 South Fairfax Avenue in the Mid-Wilshire Miracle Mile District near Museum Row. There she exhibits predominantly So-Cal based visual artists in group thematic shows of original contemporary work that rotate every 4-6 weeks. The gallery strives to always provide captivating programming of both established and emerging artists in a variety of moods, styles and sizes, including large abstract paintings, modern figurative works, ceramic, steel, and bronze sculpture, photography, and Molayem’s own latest series.
