DETAIL

Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Paper on Paper.

Acrylic and painted paper collage elements on heavyweight Arches watercolor paper. In this painting-collage hybrid I explore the layering of human history and how it relates to nature. Scraps of salvaged, vintage papers and a retrospective of black and white images tell a story as they are layered and adhered onto paper. The torn papers suggest blocks of crumbling monuments. Birds are the protagonists of the works as they forage what is left behind by mankind. Themes touched on include conceptual play with DaDa references, alongside a serious message about mortality, the cycle of life, and the fragility of nature.
